Become one of our 20 International Trainees at Vattenfall. Each of the trainee positions is unique, linked to a department within a specific business area and a working location. This means that each position has its own specific responsibilities, challenges and matching profile.
Next to your personal development in this unique position you will be enjoying one year of all we have to offer. Your trainee year will be filled with meet-ups with your international trainee team with likeminded individuals. You will be meeting up virtually to work on assignments and live during four seminar weeks where you will be visiting our power plants and growing your superpowers with a variety of trainings.
Your role as a Trainee Data Scientist
As our Trainee Data Scientist, you will be part of the Agile Data and Strategy team in the Business-to-Business department, which is responsible for developing insights and models from customer data. The sub-team you will be working in consists of data scientists and data engineers with a strong knowledge of our customers and the energy market. Depending on your interests and skills your tasks and responsibilities will be decided to create a Traineeship which suits you!
Your daily activities:
- Identifying existing models within Vattenfall and deciding if those could also be applied to large business customers;
- Data collection, exploration and analysis, creating a useful set of data to add value to our business;
- Applying tools to create insight by developing useful model(s).

As a Data Scientist Trainee you recognize yourself in the following:
- You have a Master’s degree with an analytical mindset, preferably in Computer sciences, Big data, Data analytics or any study involved with data;
- Knowledge and/or a great interest in working with Python, Pyspark, SQL or Databricks;
- Hands-on working attitude with a detail orientated mindset;
- Proactive in finding new ways in which our data can be used.
You are our ideal trainee if you are a recent graduate with an academic degree or you graduate before September 2022. You are fluent in English and preferably in Dutch. Skills in other world languages can be a merit. You are willing to relocate for possible assignments throughout the organization. And of course, you identify yourself with our principles: active, open, positive and safe.
