As a trainee you will join a 2,5 year program, in which you will be fulfilling 2 or 3 challenging assignments in different departments and sectors within Philips. For some of our trainees it is even an option to work abroad. The traineeship focusses on ‘learning on the job’, mentoring and training. You are responsible for

We have several assignments (location Amsterdam, Eindhoven) available and within the engineering trainee positions, each assignment has a specific focus.

  • Design for eXcellence: Design for eXcellence plays a key role in Philips’ ability, in collaboration between business functions, to address total and to end cost and establish a new way of working, encouraging cooperation and transparency. You will participate in different DFX workshops across Philips businesses, especially those with a specific focus on value. In this assignment you will build and maintain the DfX Program to improve business performance across business portfolios (products, services, commodities, direct and Indirect Materials/Services) with Procurement and the Business/market organization
  • Innovation Site Eindhoven; you will work closely together with the Business Excellence Lead of the site. Being a change agent in the journey to become Lean. You will lead or support site improvement actions/projects and ensure that they are performed in a timely matter; improvement actions can be: Improve the main innovation processes (pre-development and development); burning platforms to work on are defined on site and businesses level.
  • You will be working in our Program Management Office that focuses on Change and Innovation Management. We are a diverse team of (senior) professionals based in Eindhoven (Netherlands) and Blumenau (Brazil). All of our work is multi-disciplinary providing you with the opportunity to work with stakeholders across our value chain (e.g. Sales, Marketing, R&D, Customer Operations, Finance) and as such develop an overview and understanding of everything required to run a global and fast growing business in Philips. We are responsible for all software releases and commercial market introductions globally as well as driving business focused change programs You will be responsible for & driving one or more projects in parallel. You are expected to be pro-active by defining your plan, reaching out to and working with a great variety of (senior) stakeholders, and driving the project(s) to completion by meeting milestones and mitigating risks. Our department is in continuous development allowing you to co-shape our future direction as well.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
  • Recently graduated or will graduate latest September 2019 with a Master’s Degree in the directions of Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electronics, Physics, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Innovation Management, Industrial Engineering, Technical Business Administration.
  • Max 1 years of work experience straight after your graduation;
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, so you can persuade colleagues at all ranks in the organization;
  • International experience or an international mindset and the ability to use internal and external resources to maximize the value for the company and its customers;
  • Project and change management skills;
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, eager and ambitious.
  • Speak and write fluent English.

As a trainee you will receive a contract for the period of 2.5  years, with excellent labor conditions.

Recruitment process

  • If you pass the pre-selection round you will be invited to make an online test latest week 13
  • If you belong to the best performers, you will be invited for the Selection Days which will take place on the 16th of April 2019 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands
  • The most suitable candidates will be invited to the Traineeship Business Challenge Event in the Netherlands on the 13th & 14th of May 2019. During the event you will spend 1.5 day with similar minded graduates, working on a range of highly challenging exercises in a number of business-related scenarios. This is the final step in the traineeship selection process. In the same week we will inform you with the outcome.
  • Your physical presence during the Selection Days and the final Business Challenge Event is required.

When you successfully complete the selection process, you are able to start between the 1st of October 2019 and 1st of January 2020 in your first assignment which is especially created for this program.
